Appearance: White crystalline mass at 20⁰ - 21⁰ C

Odour: Sweet, characteristic of anise seed

Taste: Sweet, characteristic of anise seed

Melting point: 21.4⁰ - 23⁰ C

Boiling point: 232⁰ - 234⁰ C

Density ( d²⁰₄ ): 0.9980 - 0.9883

Refractive index at 20⁰ C: 1.55780 - 1.56145

Solubility: Insoluble in water; miscible with ether, chloroform; soluble in benzene, ethyl acetate, acetone, carbon disulfide, petr ether.

Main constituent: Trans Anethol > 99.5%

                         Cis Anethol      < 0.2 %

Use: Manuf anisaldehyde; flavoring agent; in perfumery, particularly for soap

And dentifrices; sensitizer in bleaching colors in color photography; as an       imbedding material in microscopy. It forms an important constituent of        beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic compounds; for manufacturing of anisic aldyhide.

Storage and stability:Keep in tightly closed container in a cool and dry place,

protected from light. When stored for more than 12 months,

quality should be checked before    use . Under the influence of

light and air, Anethol loses its ability to crystallize, assuming

simultaneously a viscid consistency, a yellow color, and a

somewhat bitter, disagreeable taste.
